“Delivery attempted” — what happens next

The courier tried and missed you. You usually get 1–2 more attempts before it's returned.

What counts as an attempt

Ringing the bell and waiting counts as an attempt even if you missed the call. Some carriers also count “no access” (locked gate, wrong entrance code).

Your options

Reschedule to a day/time slot, redirect to work address, or send it to a pickup point or locker — all from the carrier's app within 24–48 hours. Do it before the second attempt fails.

The 3-strikes rule

Most carriers make 2–3 attempts, then hold the parcel 7–15 days at a depot before returning it to the sender (returns are slow and rarely refund shipping).

Frequently asked questions

Nobody rang my bell — why was an attempt logged?
Couriers may log access problems, wrong codes or “no time”. Ask support for the GPS point of the attempt.
Will they try again automatically?
Usually yes, the next business day — but redirecting proactively is safer.
Can I pick it up at the depot instead?
Yes, most carriers allow depot pickup with your ID and tracking number once the parcel is scanned in.
